Entertaining and Informative!!
By a customer from Lancs , 23 Oct 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
In this series, Channel 4, continued with its successful and familiar formula of creating an authentic period environment and placing a modern family within this environment.
In this series, the family have to live and abide by 1940s wartime conditions and experience hardships such as food rationing, simulated night time air raids and family seperation.
In my opinion, it is a historically informative series which manages to be entertaining and engaging at the same time. If you have any interest in wartime history, especially home front experiences, it is definitely worth watching, and even if you have no interest in this period, it is still worth a look!!- Was this review helpful to you?

(3)Great watching
By rtb (131 reviews) from London , 12 Apr 2009The second of Channel Four's Time Travelling series - this time to the 1940s. Excellent, entertaining and informative. This disc set actually works better than 'The 1900 House' because it actually contains all the broadcast episodes, where the former contained highly edited highlights on the first disc and a follow up documentary on the second. Here though, there is a sense of logical progression and a sense of reality because the period examined is still within living memory.- Was this review helpful to you?

Channel 4 Have Another Winner
By a customer from Near to the Newport Transporter Bridge! , 20 Apr 2008Yet again Channel 4 have given us an informative & interesting series about times gone by.The attention to detail is what makes this series so interesting, from the War Cabinet keeping tabs on ordinary peoples day to day lives through to an authentic shopping experience!
The whole family have taken on the roles of 1940's people, none more so than the two young boys-the elder getting very irate about the rest of the familys electricity consumption!- Was this review helpful to you?
