[Highly rated reviewer]I really enjoyed the film but i got the feeling you needed to have read the book first, i was constantly telling the wife what was going on and why it came about, because so much of the book was missed out and she had not read it.

DisappointingBy gatesheadsteve3 (31 reviews) from Gateshead , 01 Oct 2007Being a fan of the book, I had high hopes for this film. Sadly it's not a patch on the novel, as it misses large chunks of the story out. Important references are made visually, but not explained (making no sense unless you have read the novel first). And a soundtrack by the Eurymics dates the film badly.
Plus sides - It's well acted, visually looks good and Suzanna Hamilton in the buff.
BB without tension.By a customer from Buxton , 29 Jun 2007This film is quite faithful to the original text by Orwell - having chunks of dialogue transposed straight to the script. However, this film lacks the tension that is so integral to the book.
StrangeBy Rich from Oxford , 04 Jun 2007Really weird film. Interesting concept but hard to follow. Made a bit more sense after watching the trailer upon finishing the film. Still a bit confused about the whole thing. I wasn't too impressed, wouldn't recommend this film. Maybe the book by George Orwell would be better.
