Following the Manoj Kumar vehicle, Shaheed, and Rajkumar Santoshi's The Legend of Bhagat Singh, this is the third biopic of the Lahore revolutionary who was hanged by the Raj authorities for his part in the bombing of the National Assembly. Guddu Dhanoa's portrait strives to justify Bhagat's resort to violence by stressing the impact of such British atrocities as the Jallianwalla Bagh and his growing disillusion with Gandhi's policy of passive resistance. But while Bobby Deol is suitably earnest during the apprenticeship scenes with mentor Chandrashekar Azad (Sunny Deol), he occasionally mistakes dashing heroism for patriotic zeal once battle is enjoined.
Well acted and executed. Sunny & Bobby Deol's performance is good. Watch it.
