  • Compulsive, gripping secret service drama

    [Highly rated reviewer]

I don't normally watch TV much, and don't even watch DVDs that often, but this series changed all that.

It's such a gripping drama that even when you tell yourself you're only going to watch one episode, you invariably can't resist watching the next one, and so on.... making this series perfect for watching on a DVD rental service like ScreenSelect, as you aren't forced to wait a week for the next instalment.

The format will be recognisable to anybody who has watched ER, West Wing or other fast-paced tightly-plotted US dramas.

Keifer Sutherland leads a strong cast, with good characterisation. There are numerous twists along the way - 24 hours may not sound like much but this day contains more surprises than most people's lifetimes. Clear your diary, and enjoy.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHide

When you start criticising bits every few minutes you know you aint gonna last 24hrs. Basically they have 24hrs to fill- which means they have had to use every last cliche to get them through. Not really a plot spoiler but some may see as-'I must see this'- a beautiful bi-sexual super hero pick pocket. 10 Cliches an hour-maybe more

  • Not Too Bad.

I only started watching 24 this year as I prepared myself to get into this series and watch the whole 8 series one by one. I was drawn to it because I'm interested in the terrorist threat and nuclear war genre. So I won't go into everything as quite a lot happens in the 24 hours of the whole series. So here's just a few things and comparisons. It isn't too bad but it can be quite dull in some places but alternates into very gripping scenes so it balances itself out into being an average watchable series. It's not believable that so much can happen in 24 hours but that doesn't matter because it is very well acted and cleverly done, not genious, just clever on average. Kim Bauer is what kept me watching because her scenes really are the most gripping and realistic and also she is the best actor in this series. Jack Bauer isn't terribly convincing. The president scenes are realistic. The Counter Terrorist Unit scnes are truly boring. The ending was poor. But I thought I'd give the next series a chance...

  • So many escapes

We could not view any of the series as we did not have Skye 1 but our daughter enjoyed them so much we put them on the top of our rental list.

We have watched the whole of the first series and were hooked so we are now into series 2.

not sure if we can stick with the whole 6 series but will see.

We do like these fast action movies although are amazed that the 'star' always manages to escape the bullet!!!!!

  • On a par with Prison Break!!

    Rated - 4.5 stars

i was told by everyone to give 24 a watch as everyone told me how good it was.

the last drama series i watched was prison break and i thought nothing could possibly be as good as or better than that epic series (highly reccomend if not already seen).

but in my opinion this was equally as good. like prison break, after each episode it left you on a cliff hanger and you want to watch the next episode.

the first 4 episodes were a bit slow going which you would expect as you need to get to know the characters. after that it was quality. lots of unexpected twist and outcomes you do not at all expect. i would definately reccomend this to people who enjoyed prison break. Kiefer Sutherland is very good in it and the actress who plays his daughter is very nice.

    overall a brilliant series
