    [Highly rated reviewer]

This season simply does not live up to any of the previous six. It has been hindered by a daft focus on the 'politically correct people' in the show who want to stop Jack Bauer from 'doing what he does best':namely, 'he gets the bad guys/girls at all costs'. If the writers wanted to bring that type of realism into the series they could have made a couple of strong references to it but not dwelled on it throughout the 24 episodes. Also, those who enjoy Jack's adventures will all appreciate the 'make believe' elements in the show but some of the characters in this were so irritating because of their total lack of plausibility (a changed Almeida and the President's Secretary of State daughter). This show failed to get the pulse racing; I realised this when there was one good action sequence near the final episode. The producers should also bring back CTU; much of the FBI scenes looked like they were filmed inside a retail call-centre. Sorry folks, but you've lost much of the dynamism we love to see.

  • Writers have run out of steam by Season 7 despite move to D.C.

The producers were right to bow out after season 8 as the writers have run out of steam by season 7 despite a move to D. C. There's only so much technical geek speak people will listen to, President under threat, conspiracy in the White House people can take. They do try and stir things up with a cast member from the past making a surprise return, D. C. instead of LA and the F. B. I. instead of CTU, but I found myself bored...bored....bored. Jon Voight, however, makes a formidable baddie.

  • Astonishingly powerful drama

This is a review of the whole season.

I've just watched the last disc and was moved deeply at several points - not least when Jack was giving his raison d'etre to Renee and advising her to make choices she could live with. Equally powerful and thought-provoking was the drama that played itself out in the First Family.

This was an interesting series, in the context of the FBI rather than CTU and led to fascinating discussion about legalities.

    Fascinating stuff.

  • Series 7 of '24' with Kiefer Sutherland

    Rated - 3.5 stars

I have revised my rating downward to 3 1/2 stars as I found the last couple of discs quite repetitive and the plot was easy to second guess. I'm still addicted to the 24 concept but the writers seem to be starting to run out of steam. Enough betrayal, divided loyalty, mistrust, surprises, action and suspense - not too much in the way of technology gobbeldygook either. When I buy them I usually end up watching the lot within a weekend. My husband catches one or two but friends are addicted.

  • Doesn't live up to expectations

This season didn't live up to my expectations, it failed to get interested most of the time and by the end of it I was just waiting for it to finish, but it started quite well though.
