A bit difficult, but maybe worth it

Set in 1970's California, story of two rootless young women who destroy each other. No men around worthy of note except as stooges for the storyline that humans are little more than monkey-people out to take advantage whenever possible. Third woman is the possible saviour who paints the monkey-people and is pregnant - hopefully with a human child rather than some ape, but we never find out, in fact I admit the film got so long that I fast-forwarded the end. I don't think I missed anything important, the characters didn't improve. All rather hopeless, OK if you like that sort of thing. Nice atmosherics in the yellow appartment though.
