  A new movie from Alien and Blade Runner director Ridley Scott has topped the US box office in its first week of release. American Gangster, starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, took more than $43.5 million (£20.8 million) in receipts over the weekend, according to AC Nielsen.   Audiences are looking to get their teeth into a good horror film this Halloween as Saw IV reached the top of the US box office over the weekend. According to data in the Hollywood Reporter, Saw IV generated $32.1 million (£15.59 million) upon its release, while vampire-themed 30 Days of Night took third place.
