Sadly this movie does not really go anywhere. It has the potential to be developed as a movie about childhood neglect and the effect it has on behaviour but unfortunately the message from the film is one of collusion with the neglect, reflecting merely on the shared experience of people awake at 4.30am
Oh, and it is slow slow slow in the extreme!
I didn't think the film was that bad. I found the boy's situation very sad and the director had managed to portray an unsusual relationship between the boy and the 'uncle'. There was no explanation of the nature of the relationship but the boy, starved of parental affection, attaches his feelngs to the 'uncle' because there was nobody else. I thought the boy gave a great performance as the abandoned child and this, alone, made the film worth watching.
