A big chest of acting treatsBy gothicHM (40 reviews) from Herts , 03 Jan 2010
[Highly rated reviewer]This is a very theatrical ensemble piece squashing the acting abilities of Ray Winstone, John Hurt, Wilkinson, Dillane and Ian McShane (once again showing that his ability in Deadwood was not a one time wonder) into a wreck of an East End house to carry out revenge in the old style.
The result is a claustrophobic movie where all the action takes place in the violent use of language and metaphor; using the restricted language of old style villains to explore the explosive ricochets of anger, love, betrayal and revenge as they tear through the heart of Colin Diamond (Winstone) and the relationships of his fellow gang members.
This is a serious bit of acting which requires a little thought and attention from the viewer.

Don't botherBy g3rmany (2 reviews) , 12 Sep 2013The trailer looked good, sadly the film was so poor I only refused to turn it off halfway through out of sheer stubbornness, after all, I had paid to rent it. Great cast who sadly fail to shine, the story line is almost non existent and what there is of it you have to try and piece together yourself. A lot of pointless swearing and not really anything else.
Absolute drivel!By a customer , 14 Aug 2013What a load of drivel! Saw the trailer on another film and thought it looked good with a strong cast - wrong. It was more suited to being on the stage rather than a film and was it really necessary for all that swearing?
Is this supposed to be art?By a customer , 03 May 2013A seven minute short film stretched over an hour and a half. You can tell that this was written by the same writers as Sexy Beast, but whereas Sexy Beast had humour, tension a plot and A POINT, this doesn't. It felt very much like a stream of consciousness writing with no script editing taking place. Probably took the same amount of time to write as it did to watch. Pointless. Boring. I'm completely dumbfounded as to why this line-up agreed to be part of it. The writers will probably claim that this story has some higher meaning and that viewers like me just don't get it. They are wrong. I got it - it's rubbish.
44 swear words every 15 minutesBy a customer , 07 Feb 2013Seeing an all star cast listed I was looking forward to this film, but after 15 minutes was so irritated by the bad language, I didn't bother to watch any more after 15 minutes. The rating of 1 star may be too much for this film.
Give this a missBy a customer , 18 Jan 2013With a great cast line up, I was looking forward to seeing this film. The first 20 minutes promised dark and wet London streets and the makings of a thriller, but thriller it was not. I realise the actors thought it was well written and showcased their acting talents, but I didn't enjoy it. Certain bad language was overused and made me cringe. My advice - if you want entertainment, don't rent this film.
