Only the grumpiest viewer could fail to be charmed by this sweet comedy. Featuring one of Adam Sandler's least goofy performances, it's a simple and undemanding story, with genuine warmth beneath the slapstick. In a plot reminiscent of Groundhog Day, Drew Barrymore plays a car-crash survivor whose short term memory loss means she wakes up every morning with no knowledge of the day before. For laid-back, would-be suitor Sandler this means repeating their first date over and over again, an amusing concept laced with poignancy. While both leads are likeable, benefiting from an easy chemistry established in The Wedding Singer, it's Anger Management director Peter Segal's subtle balance of humour and heart that really lifts the film.

    superb.........

this is a very funny film, and the chemistry between adam sandler and drew barrymore is wonderful. my daughters think that this film is the best that they have seen. 50 first dates is ideal for a girls night in for my daughter and her friends with cola, popcorn and a pizza delivery.

    A bit of a surprise

Not quite what we expected but proved to be quite a pleasant viewing. Just one of those films that doesn't stretch you but leaves you with a smile on your face thinking that that was a nice way to spend 90 minutes.

    Poor and weak

This was a poor film with a weak plot. Don't waste your time watching it. It is predictable and very AMERICAN.

    Chemistry

It is good to see Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore back together, their on screen chemistry in the 'Wedding Singer' was great and they capture it again with 50 First Dates.

Comedy done this well is always a joy to watch and despite this being a bit of a silly movie in places the touching scenes with Lucy and her father and Henry when they tell her about "that day" is very well done.

About 30 mins from the end of this film, I was really hoping that they didn't go for a the Hollywood happy ending, but knew they couldn't end it sadly. I was extremely pleased with the ending they had as it made a lot of sense and didn't spoil the film at all and was happy without copping out.

A thoroughly good film with great performances especially from the Walrus and Ula (Rob Schneider).

    Groundhog Day with a difference

I am not a big fan of Adam Sandler - but this is great - a real laugh out loud movie which is quite enchanting in a left field kind of way. It is 'Something About Mary' meets 'Groundhog Day' with a difference. It is a real romantic comedy with one great off beat gag after another.

This is one of those movies that leaves you all warm and fuzzy. It also has one of the best collections of Hawaiian shirt collections on film - but apart from some obvious cliches - this is terrific.

Drew Barrymore is the leading lady playing off Adam Sandler - and to great effect. It has a great soundtrack, a good supporting cast - with some brilliant charecters like 10 second Tom.

This is a touch of kooky magic.

    Wonderful moments

Before I start I should probably point out that I'm an Adam Sandler fan. Happy Gilmore still rates as one of my favourite comedies ever, the Waterboy is pure laugh out loud Slapstick and The Wedding Singer was a fantastic romantic comedy. However I can also admit that Mr. Deeds, Billy Madison etc are films that are going through the motions whilst Little Nicky was truly awful. The film isn't as funny as The Wedding Singer, but does have a few laugh out loud scenes, its more a romantic comedy with a stress on the romance, with some wonderful moments where you realise exactly how much Sanlders character is doing to win over the girl of his dreams, every day.

Ok as this was a film desired by the wife, it was not my choice.

However I must confess that if like me you like a laugh and have turned your nose up at this then more fool you,

This film is fantastic, it's funny, witty and has a fantasitc storyline. I would recomend this any day of the week and twice when your feeling down.

    Happy viewing!

    Fantastic!!

I Loooovvvvveeee this film. Its just plain great.

My ALL time favoourite film is the Wedding Singer (watch it) and this had to be seen ... i couldnt miss the next film to see barrymore and sandler collaborate in a film together.

This film is so sweet.. its inventive and keeps you interested throughout. The animals are amazing - how do they train a walrus like that???

The extras on the DVD are also entertaining - the behind the scenes is great.

Watch it please you will not be disappointed trust me!!!

    Sandler meets Groundhog Day

Touching and not bad comedy that has a slight angle on Grounhog Day but nowhere near as good. Watchable and some very funny moments.

    Sadler Back to His Best

Absolutley fantastic film, with Adam Sadler back to his best, from the one liners (Hawaiian guy in the bar was hilarious), to the predictable ending, it's just a good fun movie.

If you are looking for oscar winners, this isn't going to achieve one, but if you want a lazy Sunday afternoon flick, you won't go are wrong. If you enjoyed his earlier work i.e. 'Happy Gilmore', you're gonna enjoy this.

    Nuff said!
