Oh dear, with such a fine cast, I was looking forward to a really good film. However, the plot was so corny that I didn't enjoy it at all and almost gave up on it. It was more like a stage play transferred to film and we therefore didn't see any wonderful outdoor cinematic scenes. The songs were embarrassing to sit through - was the director trying to employ Brecht's theory of alienation technique?
Only the acting of a great troupe of French actresses saved it tho one has to ask why even they bothered to act in it - surely they are not SO desperate for parts!
