LOVEFiLM Review Nativity!

  • 3 stars out of 5

    By Tegan Kniveton from LOVEFiLM

This year's token Christmas comedy comes courtesy of director Debbie Isitt and British funny folk like Martin Freeman, Marc Wootton and Ashley Jensen.

Most helpful review Nativity!

  • No masterpiece but good solid British Xmas film for the whole family

A nice feel-good factor film for Xmas, especially for British audiences. It has a good plot ( ridiculously unlikely---as many good plots should be). It is directed and acted well. And above all it is a film for all the family at Xmas. I'm sure it'll be watched by many viewers for many Xmases to come. And rightly so. Good to see films like this being made in the UK . Oh and what a relief from the average American romantic comedies that we have to endure so much of the rest of the year. Good Xmas film for the whole family.

  • Funny but predictable.

This film was everything the critics said it was. It's funny, imaginative scenes will surprise and delight adults as well as children. The characters have brilliant personalities which differ according to each person in this film. The differences between them all mix together to create a funny, uplifting film for all the family. Thanks to the fantastic script, the characters have great lines as well. One problem with it however, was the plot. The first time you watch it, the plot is predictable, but the film makers do get away with the poor dilemma. This is thanks to the attention of most of the audience, who are thinking about the comical mishaps that occur when Paul Maddens and Mr. Poppy try to direct the school nativity. The second time you watch the film however, the dilemma is unbearable. The plot gets really boring and even the laughs and jokes of the characters can't draw your attention away from the dullness of the rest of the film. Although this film is funny, has great characters and script, I would never watch it again. Now the DVD sits on the shelf collecting dust, which in my opinion, is a better use for it than boring me to tears.

  • A nightmare inducing film

I have nightmares over this film. It's like X factor, but with children. Their acting, singing, dancing etc is not cute. It is cringe-making. I heard they didn't get paid to do this. Therefore, this film is based on the exploitation of children of the most undignified variety. A disgusting, disgusting movie. I basically enjoy watching every movie and this is the first where I physically wretched at how awful it is.
