These are VERY "Bad Girls" !By Diabolicus (26 reviews) from Seaford , 11 Apr 2013Don't know what film 1 of the reviewer's on here was watching, I absolutely lurrrved it, featuring the screen debut of 'Blaxploitation queen' Pam Grier, she's 1 talented chick, as she also 'sings the theme toon' - 'Long Time Woman' which was also featured on the soundtrack of the later film she appeared in for Quentin Tarantino -'Jackie Brown' . Directed by Jack Hill, this also kicked off the 'WIP' ('Women in Prison') cycle, this I have to say is MUCH better than 'Black Mama, White Mama' which is in a similar vein, & again is set in the Phillipines . Don't what it is about this area, perhaps they have a high crime rate ? Anyway, Grier playing Grear (lol !) is an embittered lesbian who's top dog, but when a new inmate arrives a powerplay ensues, which results in a mudfight in the paddyfields + there's full frontal nudity, a sadistic prison guard (Margaret Loder - who later appeared with Grier in 'Foxy Brown (also HIGHLY recommended by this reviewer !) with a side-line in Cobra torture & a mystery observer who watches in secret. You didn't get this sort of thing at HMP Larkhall on 'Bad Girls ' !!!!!
exploitation classicBy juradino (815 reviews) from London , 22 Sep 2009You get everything you can hope for in this well made film that passes time enjoyably. I hit scan button few times and then went back. I recommend it.
Waste of timeBy Zenmed (4 reviews) from BALLYMENA , 01 Oct 2008shockingly poor, without an ounce of wit or originality - the acting must come very very close to the worst i have ever seen
Women in prisonBy Savage (632 reviews) from London, England , 24 Jun 2007Although this came at the beginning of America's flirtation with exploitation flicks featuing women behind bars, there is hardly a single fresh idea in its ninety minute running time. You have the louche hints at lesbianism, the hopeless drug addict, the corrupt guards and warden, the girlfriend of the rebel hiding out in the hills just waiting to overthrow the old regime and bring in paradise on Earth, and the new girl in the cell who must fight or submit. And to make matters worse, it's all directed at a snail's pace by the almost-always lamentable Jack Hill (what does Quentin Tarantino see in this man's films?)
The one bright spot, as so often in these pictures, is Sid Haig as the randy delivery guy: his scenes brighten up proceedings no end, providing amusement and energy in a film that is sadly lacking in both qualities
