Entertaining Tri Gun twinBy Peter Ozua from London , 07 Sep 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]First and foremost I must say that visually this is an absolute treat to watch. It is evident that a lot of time was spent planning the visual effects and the staging for this piece of impressive eye candy.
If any one of you has had the pleasure of watching the Tri Gun series then the similarities will scream at you from the opening alone. Even Alucard's costume and sunglasses is reminiscent of Vash's red coat and orange sunglass combo. They both use modified hand guns and are virtual gods with them!
The story is quite decent with a host of 'cool' characters. It does not suffer from the usual anime syndrome of simple start and impossibly complex ending (not completely any way).
All in all a great watch with plenty to entertain any hard core anime fans.

So-so, watch the 'ultimate' OVA version insteadBy a customer , 14 Dec 2011This is all right iff you love watching anime just because it's anime. Otherwise, why bother? There are some cool bits but they're short and overshadowed by filler, Police Girl being useless (even before anything happens, she's called Little Kitty and seems to be afraid of the dark) and the villains being creepy (in a bad way). Watch the OVA instead, it lacks these problems (although you might still not like the theme or plot). I also think the opening is boring.
HellsingBy a customer from Biggar , 09 Jan 2009You'll either love it or hate it - individual great animation and story lines
seems a bit overratedBy onefix (13 reviews) from Halstead , 08 Sep 2008Having just watched the spectaular Death Note series I thought I'd try and 'sink my teeth' into another anime series. This one seems to be highly rated by everyone on Lovefilm - so is it worth a go?
Have to say I was a bit underwhelmed after episode 1, and after episode 2 I was ready to turn it off. I can't see it getting any better - random vampires turn up with poor and annoying english accents, killing people and then getting killed by the police and the indestructable Hellsing vampire. The animation is decent if not a bit wooden, but about par for the course I suppose. The big let down here is the story. After 3 episodes I actually couldn't care less about any of the characters and was quite keen to get this back in the post before removing the rest of the series from my list.
Probably one for the hardcore anime fans only.
PotentailBy BarriNormal (1 review) from Surbiton , 24 Jan 2008Even though this film does not have the outstanding level of animation evident in later series, such as Samurai Champloo, it still has huge appeal. However the disc I rented from Lovefilm was so badly scratched that the film was unwatchable after about 10 minutes. Please people, stop f$%king up the discs!!!

Love it!By a customer from England , 15 Aug 2007Very good :) Story line is good, Alucard actually turned to my fav. anime character when i watched this, but like a lot of anime.. this happens to be a lot better in Jap because its more bloody and grusome, english version is a lot more childish in a sense.. but still top notch!
