Not as good as it thinks it isBy Strech (3 reviews) , 15 May 2011
[Highly rated reviewer]Good music, but over indulgent by Claude Lelouch; yes he is clever guy..but not worthy of that much homage For those who want a war movie they will be disappointed; opening 15 minutes of Private Ryan it ain't.
Same old storyBy Johnnyo (37 reviews) , 23 Feb 2013Usual Lelouch tosh, homme and a femme overcome many trials and tribulations before fate brings them together as their stories converge. Enjoyable in parts but very stagey, uninvolving and old fashioned. War scenes weak and the 'American' actors are terrible. Not a patch on Claude's glory days of La Bonne Annee and Toute Une Vie.
Warning comment - not a reviewBy Jason2K11 (1 review) , 25 Aug 2011OK this is not really a review its a comment but there's no other place I can warn people of this other than here.
Rented the blu-ray version of this as I cant stand having to read subtitles through the film, the information on this website shows blu-ray language as English, even on the blu-ray itself it says English (united states) but the audio is actually French.
Just wanted to warn others before they make the same mistake as I did.
Cant comment on the film itself as I didn't bother watching when I found out the audio was foreign.

Worth a look in but dont expect an action packed filmBy Dungbeetle (503 reviews) from London , 21 Jul 2011French film with subtitles. A French woman falls in love with a German Officer during wartime after he saves her father from the firing squad. She works in a cinema while seeing him and she also supports her friends in the local maquis. An interesting story although the film is a little slow in places.
Premise good - but !By a customer , 04 Jun 2011I can't give this a full review as I got bored with it. Didn't get 'attached' to any of the characters so ejected the disc and sent it back.
My apologies to anyone that likes it.
Titanic on dry land?....Not quite!!By Jonboy274 (9 reviews) from Witney , 02 Jun 2011Dont bother if your after a war film, despite the title, this is more of a long winded love story with the back drop of war.
Lots of reading to do (as its subtitled) and just too darn booring! Funny thing is though, i still watched it to the end!
