[Highly rated reviewer]I went to see him on the 3rd December at Hammersmith. I ended up on stage for the final act!! He was superb. I'm a huge fan of all of his and Ricky's work. I never realised how good Steve was at standup. Can't believe he has waited all these years to display his talents on stage!!
Don't botherBy charlymurg (12 reviews) , 29 Apr 2013Given some of the brilliant stories Stephen Merchant has to tell on the Ricky Gervais podcasts I expected much more from his stand up but as it goes this was disappointing. He seemed uncomfortable and out of his depth. Infact I didn't even get to the end of the dvd. Wouldn't waste your time. Sorry Mr Merchant, I still like you but maybe leave the stand up to the professionals
Bloody funny!By Babybutterfly (18 reviews) , 09 Mar 2013Both me & my husband were in stitches at this, really funny, classic Steve! His humour can be a little unique but hey if you get it, it's great! Rent this for good giggles!
Not greatBy a customer , 27 Jan 2013Very average stand-up you wont be splitting your sides. And that last 15 minutes with the 2 random actors in the audience I fast forwarded through. Soz.
Amusing but certainly not great!By PaulHappy (154 reviews) , 21 Jan 2013I love stand up and was looking forward to watching this. However, I would say it was amusing without being epic. To be fair during the first part of his act there were funny moments, but his inexperience as a stand up was clear to see - you could see he was a writer having a go at stand up but sadly not really succeeding! His act was also let down by the banal and unfunny last 15 minutes which was a scripted role play with 2 members of the audience - it certainly gave me the impression that it was a time/space filler for the DVD. It might have been better to have ended after the first 60 minutes and not done the extra 15 minutes (but I suppose the audience/DVD purchaser might have felt cheated). Stephen mentions in the bonus part of the DVD that he had in the past done 5-10 minute stand up spots and so I suppose doing over an hour was an achievement. Overall, I did find it quite amusing with some good moments - but I would not rush to watch it again.
Nearly as funny as seeing an albatross danceBy Rudigar (1 review) , 15 Dec 2012I saw the show live in Margate and the DVD really captures how funny the show was. The only thing funnier I can imagine seeing live is a giant albatross trying to dance in a night club!
