[Highly rated reviewer]'Some things shouldn't be disturbed' -so reads this movies tagline. In truth it should have read 'Some things shouldn't be viewed'. The Rig is a blatant and unoriginal cash-in on the now classic 'Alien', transporting the setting from space to oil rig, with unconvincing and ever so predictable results.
Character development is non-existent, as is any sense and hope of originality. What could have been an enjoyable thrill-ride deteriorates as quickly as your attention span, as wooden character after wooden character is dispatched by some unknown creature, no doubt desperate to escape the trappings of this bargain bin yarn.
Take my advice and avoid this at all costs.

A 50s movie, 50 years too late!By Sharlock (13 reviews) , 31 Jul 2012This film would've been considered top-notch had it been made in the 50s when actors in rubber suits pretending to be monsters were considered scary and realistic.
Unfortunately, in the intervening half century, technology has brought us Jurassic Park-style effects, and so there's no excuse for it anymore.
At least the great acting makes up for it. Oh, wait... no, the acting was unconvincing at best. Half the time it felt like they'd been filmed during first read through of the script.
But at least the great story makes up for it. Oh, wait... the cliche-ridden plot would have excited those 1950s cinemagoers, but now it so old hat you could almost describe each scene before it played out.
To be fair, there was some suspense to be had, with characters being exposed to the elements on a regular basis, and unable to leave the rig, but ultimately it just doesn't satisfy. Unless you're a fan of 50s B-movies...
Having trouble sleeping? Then watch this film!By a customer , 27 Mar 2012Very poor acting, unrealistic effects and I just couldn't wait for it to finish. So boring! I wouldn't recommend to anyone
UTTER RUBBISHBy Fannyblot (103 reviews) from Holmfirth England , 14 Feb 2012This is not very good at all, a typical B movie. There are a couple of good scares but not enough to redeem this terrible film. Avoid at all costs.
Utter TripeBy batchy (1 review) , 21 Jan 2012Awful Awful Awful!! DO NOT rent this film.. Its so low budget and terrible acting, its not even worth a B movie status.. I seriously recommend you don't waste your time watching this tripe.
Dreadful filmBy DjDanny32 (6 reviews) from Luton , 26 Nov 2011This is one of the worst films I've ever seen. The acting is wooden, the FX are wooden and the cast are wooden. Do NOT waste any of your time on it. If you're REALLY desperate for something to watch, then maybe it could pass as a comedy/spoof as it is SO bad, but even that is pushing it.
Avoid at all costs.
