Better than the reviews!!!!!By a customer from East Grinstead, England , 30 Jun 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]I have to disagree with the reviewer from Kent, I thought this was a decent little physiological French thriller. It did get mixed reviews on release, but what you get is a slowly unveiling story of two identical twins being punished in different ways (although both are behind bars: one in prison, one in a convent)for a crime supposedly commited by one of them.A priest helps unravel the mystery. The sort of film the French are so good at, very little action, reasonably good characterisation, and a fairly intelligent story.A good little movie, especially if you like French films.

Le Pacte du SilenceBy Minopater (261 reviews) from Wallington , 10 May 2011I found this fim very disappointing. The plot stretched credulity to its limits and left many cracks badly exposed. Depardieu didn't look at all comfortable in his role as a priest with a past and to be frank I felt pretty uncomfortable watching this poor effort.
Suspenseful, absorbing thrillerBy thesav (16 reviews) from Southport , 30 Mar 2010The plot should not be exposed here too much. Suffice to say that the viewer should be attentive from the first frame. Be patient with the story. It is worth it. Th eacting is superlative. The female lead grows more alluring as the film progresses, and we empathise with Depardieu's predicament. Watch this and be thankful the French still make their own movies.
Very disappointingBy a customer from Altrincham , 13 Nov 2008Very disappointing - Gerard Depardieu should stick with romantic comedy
Very painfulBy a customer from London , 26 Oct 2008How on earth did depardieu end up in this really bad movie is probably best left unanswered. Yet my guess is that he's doing actress Elodie Bouchez and wants to help us re-launch her career. If not then he's doing this crappy director and wants to help relauch his career, Or he's doing... You're mcatching my drift by now.
Direction is appalling, Actress Elodie Bouchez could not make it to High School Musical 7. The editing was made by a trisomic with a pair of scissors, and man does the movie drags on as well, it lasts forever!!! . But the palm of 'change industry while you're still young' should go to the young male journalist. I don't think I have seen such bad acting... ever... in a long feature.
Depardieu, is superb as ever, but unless you want to study him for acting reasons or are a Depardieu fetichist that needs to have everything he's been in be aware that this is far from enough to save such a lame movie. Avoid at all cost.

Rather Disappointing!By a customer from London England , 04 Jul 2007I was expecting an good movie but was disappointed. It was boring and dreary and the storyline was predictible. I have given it 2 stars for Gerard Depardieu and his nose which I beccame fixated on for the most of the movie. Don't bother with this one unless you a real fan of Gerard or his nose.
