superb family filmBy williamsgwynfa (627 reviews) from gwaenysgor , 09 Feb 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]my children loved this dvd. Ted Danson plays a washed up scientist who finds love and happiness in the Highlands of Scotland. Those who want to believe in the Loch Ness monster will enjoy this movie, and for those who enjoy the landscape of Scotland, it is not to be missed. there are beautiful shots of Urquhart castle at the edge of the loch, and with rod stewart's soundtrack, what more could you want.
well worth renting out.

not a bad filmBy cheesekake (1497 reviews) from uk , 14 Nov 2012defo not one of Dansen's best, but its an ok film, the scottish accent of Richardson is a bit strange, otherwise the story is a good.
one of those films you'll either love or hate
A winning, imaginative charmerBy allykat (76 reviews) from Weymouth , 07 Aug 2010This surprised me! I wasn't expecting anything much. Just a bit of sugary rom-com with a nice Scottish Highland backdrop. I like the Highlands so got it anyway and it turned out to be a real winner!
Ted Danson is perfect as the world-weary American given a task he doesn't want to take on ..... finding 'Nessie'! He doesn't expect to find it and doesn't expect to find love either. Young 9-year old Isobel, the daughter of the local innkeeper, likes him though and knows when she meets him that a fate awaits him. He, meanwhile, needs to learn a thing or two about the locals .... If you enjoyed 'Local Hero' you might well like this. If you are looking for dinosaurs or a refreshing take on 'rom coms' or just the Highland backdrop, you could do worse than relax and go with the flow of this really winning, imaginative charmer.
Who's the monster?By driveindavy (66 reviews) from scotland , 21 Jul 2010This is LOL ridiculous if you've ever been to Scotland but as the film goes on, the ripping- off of Local Hero (GREAT film) gets more annoying. Hollywood the bully, but then Ted Danson bullies his way through the film and the Highlands - a joke for Americans. In the end, the joke is on him because the camera insists on showing us his BIG BALD PATCH. The other thing is that Danson always reminds me of Lurch (Adams Family). In a monster movie. Anyone find him good looking?
Oh, BTW thanks for the reviews about 'piss' and 'lockness', interesting concept that. As for Joely Richardson in her bra.....bring it on!
loch nessBy fullas (3 reviews) from Newcastle upon Tyne , 24 Jan 2010Not too bad although a bit more of nessi wouldnt go a miss, the cast is pretty strong apart from the guy who played little john in Robin Hood with Ted Danson doing what he does best.
With the movie being pretty old you would expect the visual effects to be poor but in fact they are not too bad at least the title character dosent look like a puppet
