Fantastic Movie, Great Music!By a customer from Derby, England , 22 Sep 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]I thoroughly enjoyed this film adaptation of Glen Millers life story (I've no idea how true it is). If you love the music of Glen Miller you'll adore this film about one mans quest to find 'that sound'. I think every musician who wants more than just to play the one instrument but needs more to fill his/her musical ability will relate to Miller. Jimmy Stewart plays his typical everyman role but I think the real star of this movie was June Allyson, a fantastically loving performance.
An extraordinary talent with great music and a great story.

In the moodBy PWM71 (37 reviews) from Birmingham , 08 Jan 2012Absolutely fantastic. I saw this when I was a kid and it still was as good as it was then.
All the actors are first rate with James Stewart giving an outstanding performance and visually, as far as casting goes I don't think you could get a closer match to Glenn Miller.
The scene where the band continue to play during an air raid in England is a major highlight, as is the events leading up to Miller's discovery of 'the sound'.
Overall it looks good, sounds good and tells a good story.
As good as I remembered itBy a customer , 07 Jan 2012I saw this film on its original release and it opened my eyes (and ears) to the joys of big band jazz. Something I've enjoyed ever since. Having seen it again it took me back - but with great pleasure.
