Better than the modern version..By BobbyJoDallo (7 reviews) , 25 May 2011I remembered this movie fondly from my childhood, and recently hired it for my five year old son. He was captivated! I don't know why so many people have written critical reviews. Yes the animation is primitive by modern standards, but it still has an immense charm. The score is beautiful and the voice talents of the English cast (including Arthur Lowe, Leslie Philips, Sheila Hancock among other great talents) are superb. I still prefer this to modern all-action remake, which to my mind contained wooden acting and left me cold.
disappointingBy a customer from Ely , 26 Aug 2008An excellent book set in the manner of 'Jason and his Magic Torch' annimation from the 70s. Very 1-dimensional and the lack of background music or noise was disconcerting. The kids seemed to enjoy it, but it was noticeable that they did not ask to see it again.
Maybe I asked for the wrong version of the film, but I was expecting to see actors, not psychedelic cardboard.

Customer ReviewBy a customer from UK , 23 Jun 2008Rented this one thinking it was the lastest production of Narnia. Mostly because the cover of the DVD looked like the one on the cinema, but also because the date of production was 2005...
Don't be fooled!- this is an animated version (and a bad one to add to that!) of the latest cinema hit.
Was thoroughly dissapointed and I hope this helps you to not make the same mistake. Watched about 2 minutes of it before turning it off...
The Lion, The Witch, And The WardrobeBy Gavin O'Donnell from Stoke-on-Trent , 22 Aug 2007Animated version of the C.S Lewis classic. Four children, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy are evacuated to the country in World War II. They stay in a large house owned by an old Professor. First Lucy, then Edmund, then all four children find their way through an old wardrobe into Narnia, a magical land with talking animals mythical creatures. But Narnia is held under a magicical spell by the evil White Witch to ensure it's always Winter but never Christmas. The children have to battle evil creatures and deal with betrayal and treachery but make good friends as well. Finally with the help of Aslan they defeat the evil witch, and restore Springtime and freedom back to Narnia...and claim their rightful places on the throne.
lot of story gone.By bladewrecker from uk , 20 Aug 2007a good introduction for kids . The animation does suffer as this was made using 3 different studios in 1978 is pre-cgi and computers. However to get the movie down to 90 mins a lot of story is missing.Still worth a look if you dont want to spend almost 3 hrs watching the more up to date versions.
