[Highly rated reviewer]One of those films you have to really want to watch to see to the end. Im not in that category. This film was basically two lesbian women droning on about their incredibly dull love lives, and the occasional flashback to keep you awake. 40 mins was enough for me I cant imagine the style changed dramatically after this.
I could see the point of the narration, by the main actresses, but it was too much it must have taken up half of the film time. I have a feeling these women thought they had amusing tales to tell. But it smacked too much of some theatre collective play you might see at Edinburgh, but would never dream of seeing elsewhere.

Just don't bother.... really don'tBy a customer , 01 Sep 2012Lets face it - if most lesbian films got a school report - other than a few exceptions - it would probably say: must try harder.
Girl Play is not an exception to this. Oh. Dear. Lord. That is all. Well not quite; I'll elaborate a little... But before I do - do yourself a favour and watch the fabulous Kiss Me instead - if you haven't already. If you have - watch it again over this shambles.
The film is basically two women doing monologues (alas not very good ones) on stage (think poor and painfully unfunny drama school audition). This is inter-cut with flashes to their outside lives with their partners etc... As someone else said in their review and I agree wholeheartedly - it's like a bad Edinburgh Fringe show. A really bad one.
I found it irritating on so many levels - it left me completely cold. I would've stopped watching half way through as other people who have reviewed it have done; but I'm one of those who can't not watch something to the bitter end. My persevering - however - says nothing favourable about the quality of this film.

Self-absorbed people thinking they are "Artists"By a customer from London , 09 Dec 2010I do not understand how just being on stage makes people artists!! Rigid American acting (if any).
DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE! DONT' RENT OR BUY.

1.5 out of 5By Evie78 (1 review) from London , 01 Apr 2010If you're looking for some hot lesbian kissing, which I was, then you will be disappointed.
A touching story of women who fall in love while playing lovers in a play, it is told in the first person directly to the audience with very few actual scenes.
It is just over an hour long so I did watch all of it, and it is the age old story of one woman who 'doesn't do love' and one who is a serial monogomist so not bad, but it wouldn't have held my interest much longer.
