I must admit to being ...By SamH#1 from READING , 13 Aug 2003
[Highly rated reviewer]I must admit to being pleasantly surprised by this film. I'm not a fan of any of the three main character actors, and so didn't think I'd enjoy the film, but I'm glad that I was proved wrong. David Aames (Cruise) is a man who you both enjoy and despair of in equal measure. His hedonistic life comes to a crashing halt when a casual fling goes tragically wrong. He is forced to live with the fact that not only did his friend die, but he also has to come to terms with major facial disfigurment, while at the same time trying to hold on to a love he has only just found, and keep his sanity - a battle he looks like losing. Watching his world fall apart around him was mesmerising. Discovering the option he took to survive his situation is the fascinating finale to the film. I won't give it away - I would seriously reccomend this film.

Great filmBy Lucylocket5 (5 reviews) , 16 Jan 2013This is a great film, very clever, thought provoking and different to any other film. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is it was a little slow in places but still well worth watching. Really enjoyed Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz's performances too.
Brilliant MovieBy sandrawoo (4 reviews) from Chatham , 04 Nov 2012Superb
I so love films where you are kept guessing till the end. I found this a very thought provoking film and so far have watched it 3 times and I am sure to watch it again. I really cannot understand why people are giving it such bad reviews, are they watching the same film as me ??? Maybe they should read the films synopsis before watching and then they would not have to waste their time !!!
Cameron gives his own touch to a remake.By Blunty27 (5 reviews) , 11 Sep 2012Cameron Crowe has given his own mark on this remake. Good music tracks, some pop culture and a story line which I didnt have too much trouble following. The last scene at the end seems to linger in your mind for a while as it has a suprising end to the film.
Sentimental and mildly romantic at times. Not Camerons best film, but if you liked Jerry Mcguire, Almost famous and we bought a zoo, then you will like this just as much.
Painfully slow and confusingBy wilder1 (26 reviews) from Haverhill,UK , 02 Oct 2011This is one strange film and nothing like anything I have seen. I am not sure if I liked it or not but Tom Cruise's character was a real jerk! It did make sense eventually but I did have to watch it twice to fully understand who was who throughout. I found the ending sad the second time, therefore proving it must have had something to move me to tears, but everyone I know hated it and it is a film I wouldn't particularly ever want to see again.
Well done if you manage it the entire way through
