[Highly rated reviewer]I watched this film as a kid and wanted to watch it again FANTASTIC tale of piracy on the high seas with the human twiist
Classic, that has aged gracefullyBy lillypuff (7 reviews) , 20 Apr 2013A classic film, saw it several times as a kid and fell in love with it, I was worried it wouldn't be as good watching it again as an adult, but it was still wonderful and I love Anthony Quinn, in fact I think I might have to buy my own copy for rainy Sunday afternoons and duvet days.
Children, Pirates And A Notoriously Bleak EndingBy Jennish (336 reviews) from Rye , 16 Nov 2011Despite its children and pirates premise there is surprisingly little in the way of swashbuckling on offer. A High Wind in Jamaica is instead something of a rarity, morally ambiguous and emotionally complex film aimed at children. This story of lost innocence and fleeting childhood has fun and humorous moments of adventure, but it is the dark and tragic tone of its ending that will stick with you. Possibly the bleakest children's film ever made, yet still a joy to behold.
