[Highly rated reviewer]This was a surprising little cracker of a movie!
Since the previous reviewer has gone into great detail about what happesn in the movie, I will simply comment on what I think makes this movie worth seeing: I'm not a George Clooney fan (don't see what the fuss is all about!), but I did like to see the light conversational sparring between him and 'Lexie'. It's something not seen in the movies these days and quite a shame I think: a little bit of sexual tension is always a good thing on screen. It allows the viewer something to look forward to....(when they finally realise they can't live without each other). I would call this movie quaint, but in the loveliest of ways possible: by quaint I mean, that the makers of this flick added no sex or nudity scene (thankfully) and instead worked on deliverying a good storyline and a really good script, with some very punchy, witty clever lines. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially since there was good, solid, convincing chemistry between the two main actors Dodge and Lexie! A must see if you enjoyed the oldies. NOT recommended for anyone
who likes their films full of action, no substance and alot of nudity and sex. (you'll probably fall asleep watching this!)

Better than expectedBy a customer , 13 Aug 2012I watched this, let's be honest, for a George Clooney eye candy fix but ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would.
It harks back to the 1930s screwball comedies and GC is so like Clark Gable (just add the 'tache) that it really works. A tad old fashioned, but that's the point. It's heartwarming and fun and looks authentic, recapturing the era well too. A proper story with a beginning middle and end, and with people you care about, a bit. Genuinely charming. Renee Zellweger looked a bit odd though. Puffy and lop-sided, and not very flatteringly lit. Not sure what was going on there. But a minor distraction in an otherwise okay movie.
Good fun...By Chrisaljack (419 reviews) from Hellingly , 28 Feb 2012Thoroughly enjoyable teaming of George Clooney and Renee Zellweger. A great way to while away a couple of hours and have a gentle chuckle!
Something different...By a customer from Bedfordshire , 30 Jul 2010Okay, so if you're a fan of George Clooney in his traditional movie personalities or the same of Renee Zellweger (better still of both of them) then you'll enjoy this. The location and costume teams have a lot to be proud of too as watching the movie you really are transported back to a bygon era. For me however, it lacked a certain something that I couldn't quite place and I'm glad I didn't pay to watch it at the cinema - I probably won't watch it again and certainly won't go out of my way to watch if it's on the TV.
A real gem!By a customer from Nottingham , 21 Feb 2010George Clooney is (as usual ) absolutely irresistable and the rest of the cast were pretty good too!
The interesting plot, the clever banter, and the authentic 1920's set/costumes all give this film the 'feel-good' factor. A good old-fashioned story where the romance between Clooney and Zellweger is utterly believable.
A real gem of a film, I would recommend to anyone!
