Good version of an over done classic
By Hotscotjimi (9 reviews) , 20 Dec 2012I rented this movie to get into the Christmas spirit and helped a little. It is very well done with computer animation and Jim Carrey does well with many voices. Though this story has been done over and over.... and over it is a good version of it but even though it is a PG I would watch it first before showing it to young children as some parts of the film could be a little scary to the younger children.- Was this review helpful to you?

Dated technology, but strong central performance.
By JafarIqbal (54 reviews) from London , 12 Sep 2012Ill tell you what the films about as a matter of principle but, if you dont already know, I sincerely question your upbringing. Ebeneezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) hates everyone and, even moreso, hates Christmas. But one Christmas Eve, he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future
The main appeal of the movie for me was the motion capture, just because I remember the entire hype being about that. Its not bad and, at times, its excellent. But its clear that having the entire movie animated around the motion capture was a bad idea. Its not very realistic; whereas Gollum in LOTR is so unbelievably lifelike.
Its the Jim Carrey show, too. He is brilliant in it, and I dont fault the performance at all. But hes a good actor in an averagely made movie. Theres decent support from actors like Gary Oldman and Colin Firth, but nothing to shout home about. Maybe, MAYBE, this will be fun for kids, but I doubt that too.
So you can tell that I found the movie boring. I didnt hate it; its just boring. Frankly, Id rather read the book.- Was this review helpful to you?

Probably not for kids!!!
By ElleThamos (5 reviews) , 07 Mar 2012I enjoyed the animation and humor in this version of the classic.
I won't bore you with the details as all are no doubt familiar with the story.
I will say that I agree with the other reviews in that some parents may not find it suitable for their children. I mean, I screamed at the door knocker scene. How lame is that?- Was this review helpful to you?
