Dangerously close to awful
By Bovid (9 reviews) , 04 Jul 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
If you have a burning desire to watch Kiera Knightley being spanked then this is the film for you. The film moves at a snails pace and if it weren't for Michael Fassbender it would have been unbearable. It was always going to be a dialogue heavy film but what could have been an interesting character piece came across as soapy. Words fail me when it comes to Knightley's twitchy performance, which was in turns annoying and over the top. It was as if she had just read a dummies guide to acting crazy...dreadful.- Was this review helpful to you?

(89)A Curates Egg
By Zebras22 (43 reviews) , 18 May 2013Better than i thought it would be. Not Cronenberg's best but entertaining. The two male stars are excellent, but Keira Knightly is overrated as usual and her accent is terrible.- Was this review helpful to you?

One for the grown ups
By Lina36 (1 review) , 18 May 2013Really enjoyed this film. It's one for grown-ups. Great acting, interesting story about the relationship between Jung and Freud. If you're interested in psychoanalysis, then you'll enjoy.- Was this review helpful to you?

Worth a peep
By a customer , 18 May 2013Well photographed and the acting is quite convincing. Freud is portrayed as too confident and both the main protagonists lack depth. Keira is engaging and prettily deranged.- Was this review helpful to you?

Merchant Ivory for Psychoanalysis
By SellyNick (13 reviews) from Birmingham , 21 Apr 2013Ultimately seems to feel like a Merchant Ivory production of the birth of psychoanalysis. Good production values and strong performances which hold your attention (I agree Keira never seems overly convincing) but is let down by a lack of pace and conviction. Hence the final text of what happened to the indivduals proves more engaging than the whole of the movie. ( I'm sure they used the same back lot of when Bill and Ted find Freud!)- Was this review helpful to you?
