A Different Kind Of Christmas

When Santa decides to stay put and open a year round store in a California suburb, it seemed like a good idea. Children could experience the magic of Christmas year round, and Santa wouldn't have to travel. Unfortunately, Santa's store becomes a tourist-crazy nuisance, and the issue turns political with the upcoming mayoral races. Candidate Elizabeth Gates (CHEERS' Shelley Long) wants to shut down Santa's store, but her 10-year old son is practically living there. Everyone learns a valuable lesson about Christmas by the time the whole thing is sorted out.

Also known as Santa and Me, this is yet another reworking of the old Scrooge formula. Although she's so far failed to find her niche on the big screen, Shelley Long remains a more than capable comic actress and she fully enters into the spirit here as the crotchety lawyer who suddenly finds her life turned upside down by pesky part-time Santa Bruce Kirby. With Spin City mayor Barry Bostwick providing dependable support, this feel-good fare is every bit as sickly sweet as you'd expect it to be. But, in this season of over-indulgence, what more could you ask for?

    Average Shelly Long movie

Basically a poor rework of Miracle on 54th St. Check out Troop Beverley Hills for a really good Shelly Long movie!

    Ok but not very christmasy

This is an ok film but certainly not what I expected after reading the synopsis. don't get it if your looking for real christmas heartwarmer. Not a bad watch but not one i'd choose to have myself.
