Return to form for Waters
I couldn't help but write a review about this fantastic offering from legend John Waters, having read the only other review saying '10 people walked out, then I got so bored I did'. Obviously the reviewer didn't get it.
This film is utterly, totally hilarious, in true John Waters style. The cast are fantastic, delivering each of his warped lines with superb pace.
John Waters is the 'Pope of Trash' and obviously many people will hate his movies as a result.... however, for his fans, this movie will delight! I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself!! -

Real disappointment
This is a shame on every level.
I am a John Waters fan but he doesn't always hit the mark. Serial Mom, Pink Flamingos and Cry-Baby are great, Pecker's pretty good fun but then there's a Cecil B Demented - a misfire all around.
It is never as funny as it should be or thinks it is. Johnny Knoxville is a blight on filmmaking. Tracy Ullman can't hit the right tone. She appears uncomfortable and overplaying it at the same time. The beauty of Serial Mom or Pecker was that Kathleen Turner or Edward Furlong had a perfect blend of underplaying and overplaying as the moment suited. Selma Blair is the best thing here but is underused, as is Waters regular Mink Stole.
I really wanted this to be a vintage Waters but it just isn't. -
