Excellent twin threaded story explaining why a retired French Romany bank robber is willing to help his life-long freind and accomplice escape jail. Gripping drama that steam-rolls along.

A very watchable film. Shocking that it is based on real events. You wouldn't want to meet any of these people any more than you would Mesrine or Vito Corleone. Sound acting but does not reach the heights or should it be depths of Vincent Cassal's Mesrine, nonetheless you understand they are all a bunch of low-life pyschopaths, even some supposedly on the side of law and order.

Les Lyonnais was a success in French cinema, just like Mesrine, we are not short of charismatic 1970's voyoux!! I am from Lyon but was born after the Gang's heydays, my mum only told me about them when the film got released! She had quite a few stories!!!

The film was done respecting Vidal's wishes and it is nice to see a great cast giving their all.

I would say as a low point is for me, that Marchal's former polars are made of something else altogether.

MR73 & 36 took your guts and never left you. I have watched them 3 times already and will do so for many years still.

'Les LYonnais' for me is not as rounded. Maybe cos' it is a guy's story, expect loyal friends, betrayals and stubborn cops:)

Lanvin is superb! Also a few actors used before by OLIVIER M. as well as in Braquo, excellent high quality tv French cop series. Not to be missed.
