I beleive this is one of the most important films to be produced anyware in the last decade because every single possible cinematic component in it all contribute to its message(s). The disturbed narrative, jarring editing, caustic music and sounds, sickly lighting, etc. Even the DVD extra 'A Hole in my Second Heart' contributes to the viewers discomfort by making them question to what extent the film they just saw was utter fiction or documentary.
All of this makes it a must see movie, though perhaps it has occasional 'cheesy' moments like any other Moodysson film (think angel wings in 'Lilya4ever'). These are are certainly forgiveable.
Again, 'A Hole in My Heart''s rare and horrible cohesion makes it both a GREAT and IMPORTANT acheivement for the modern cinema.
