It doesn't matter how many time I have seen this film over the years, it will always be compulsive viewing... The study of the relationship between Bates & Ritchie is fascinating and so typical. The disintegration of a romance that was never meant to be the 'real thing' is so poignant when circumtance dictates marriage as opposed to the passing fancy it obviously was.
