Petulant, rich honeypie Celine and scruffily adorable janitor Robert find themselves on the road to romance after he kidnaps her to avenge his termination at the hands of her callous father. But what they don't realize is that their love is celestially predetermined, as a pair of gun-toting angels gives chase to force the issue. A quixotic and inconsistent Hollywood debut from the production team of director Boyle, writer John Hodge, and producer Andrew MacDonald ("Shallow Grave" and "Trainspotting").

This must count as third time unlucky for the production team behind British mega-hits Shallow Grave and Trainspotting. Desperate to regain his menial job in a giant American corporation, Ewan McGregor kidnaps his former boss's daughter, rich bitch Cameron Diaz. As the two go on the run, a pair of angels (miscast Holly Hunter and Delroy Lindo) embark on a quest to make the unlikely duo fall in love. This fantasy-tinged romantic road movie comes unstuck as the feel-good factor is cranked up. McGregor and Diaz may be on fine form, but this will undoubtedly be a letdown for fans of director Danny Boyle.
"...A LIFE LESS ORDINARY certainly shows off Mr. Boyle's flamboyant visual cleverness....[McGregor is] charming and sheepishly fun here..."
I first saw this movie several years ago, I rented it without knowing much about it and was really impressed with it. It's funny and quirky, if you like that kind of thing then you'll love this movie. It has a great soundtrack (Ash, Oasis), a top class cast (Holly Hunter, Stanley Tucci, Delroy Lindo, Ian Holm) and a story that with more twists than a slinky.
I really recommend giving it a try.
I rather like this film. Pretty people to look at and it's a nice story to divert you of an evening.
Top 10 - Cameron Diaz The Mask (1994) Cameron leapt into the limelight in 1994 with her role as the blonde sex siren Tina Carlyle in The Mask. Pairing her with the irrepressible Jim Carrey, who plays Jackel and Hyde character Stanley Ipkiss, it launched her career, highlighting her natural charisma and comedy timing. Not bad for a former model. My Best friend's Wedding (1997) One of Diaz’s late 90s rom-coms that once again highlights her natural charm. At college Julianne Potter (Julia... Read more
