Entertaining fantasy

Purists who know the book may be suprised to find the school has moved to New York, and that Becky has changed colour, but I think these are both valid changes to make the film appeal to a wider audience.
What works really well in this adaptation is the settings and props. Things like the cramped, sickly-green front of the school; the puppetlike versions of the Indian myths; and the gorgeous transformation of Sarah's attic. These all combine to make a fairy tale out of a story , which suits the theme of the film very well.- Was this review helpful to you?

One Of My Childhood Lessons

Brings memories flooding back, one of the few films I watched as a child and went 'WOW'. It taught me many good things about this world and I'll carry its teachings with me my whole life.
