Dim-witted romantic comedy that has the charm of regurgitated fast food; this is When Harry Met Sally for the immature.
Amanda Peet's vitality is the movie's driving force
First-rate fun for anyone who likes their rom-com
I hadn't heard of this movie so wasn't expecting much. But I found it thoroughly enjoyable, despite a somewhat cheesy 'twist' ending.
The film kicks off with an unlikely (for me, more's the pity) mile-high one-night stand between two complete strangers.
At this point, he plays a drifter of few words (but some entrepreneurial ambitions) and she plays a sassy girl at the end of what one imagines was a rebellious teenage period.
Except that he doesn't want to remain a stranger and, despite his lack of gumption, the relationship resumes 3 years later when she picks up the phone on a rebound. By this point our hero has started a dot com business (in an unlikely field), and our heroine is a failing actress.
Nothing serious happens, tho these two see each other every year or two. Over this period his business grows dramatically (if unplausibly), leaving him with little interest in his social or family side. Meanwhile she finds her vocation and turns into a successful 'almost 30 something' artist, surrounded by forgettable 'smug married' friends procreating happily.
Until year 7, when we get the obligatory rom-com ending. This bit let it down for me but there were enough laughs along the way for me to finish the film with a big smile on my face.
No standout acting performances tho both Amanda Peet and Ashton Kutcher were well cast and didn't put a foot wrong.
If you like rom-coms I would definitely recommend this. Not as original as Hitch or Notting Hill but there is much more to relate to for the rest of us.
I really liked this, but it is purely a girls movie I think. Ashton may not be the greatest actor but he works in films like this where you don't have to think much and can just plod along with the characters.
I found this film like an updated version of 'When Harry met Sally'. The chinese restaurant scene is funny and had me and my mate in stitches in the cinema. Just what girls need when they are having a blue day!
Don't let your girl friend make you watch this film, you won't enjoy it.

This film was better than expected. Expected a cheesy American romantic comedy, but it wasn't cheesy or particularly funny. I liked and related to the characters and the story seemed likely. Although ending was fairly predictable, I feel strongly that some films SHOULD have happy endings and leave you smiling - sometimes relationships DO work out and people ARE happy - also I was looking for a feel-good film and, hurray! I got it. There are soooo many depressing films these days cos film-makers want Oscars...so it's nice to see a good old romance that doesn't make you want to puke. Would definitely recommend for a nice evening in with your partner.

I really enjoyed this film, it's one of those that you can sit back and enjoy without having to think about anything. A pure delight, but suppose that you have to be in a "girly" mood to watch it!!
Quite a nice movie, but a little slow. Had some funny moments, definitely worth watching, but don't expect great things!!
I really liked this movie - I didnt think i would - Ashton Kuchter in a romantic lead spelled another bad teen rom com.
I was worng. What I saw was an intelligent yet simplistic movie that dispensed with the usual cliches and didn outstay its welcome.
It has been years since I have watched a romantic film that wasnt doubled up as a teen comedy.
This was for those 25+ who want a feelgood romance.
Top drawer and now my official best chick flick
Not quite what I expected and not something I would've picked myself necessarily, but I was encouraged to watch this by my wife who enjoyed it at the cinema with one of her mates. I would definitly watch it again, she said. So we put it on and I actually thought it was great. As A Lot Like a lot of other rom coms it was fairly predictable, and has a few really good moments. In all though, it is just one of those films you can sit down and watch without getting too heavy or serious. Great viewing
Has its moments, but better things to do on a Saturday night than watch this one.
I can't believe how terrible this film was. The reason I wanted to watch it was because Ashton Kutcher is in it, although he's not looking his best in most parts.
The leading couple are both good actors but just fail to impress in this one. The film is spread across many years, the usual, couple meet, are instantly attracted, but don't get together, although you can tell from the beginning that's how it's going to end.
They go through a series of other relationships meeting every once and a while, it's so predictable, I found myself just wanting to fast forward to the end because I simply couldn't be bothered to watch the pointless 'obstacles' in between. There are a few other 'bits' in the film, e.g their jobs/hobbies, which if were used in the correct way would have made it better, but they aren't really believable, ironic in parts, and completely uninteresting.
If you buy the whole idea that two people that hardly know one another can make a life together, even though there seems to be no unique chemistry between the two, compared to the other characters, you may enjoy this film, but in my eyes, it never EVER would, it's completely exaggerated.
I am a woman, I usually like a chick flick, but guys, coming from a female perspective, if we don't like it, you're only going to hate it!
Do not waste your time on this film!

One of the best romantic comedies we've seen
