(51)Great historical drama.
By pixie (238 reviews) from Redruth , 21 Mar 2013I decided a while ago to watch every Best Picture Oscar winner since they began, have seen the majority of them already and some are still not released but this is one of them and I loved it, a great British Tudor drama but I had only heard of Thomas Moore until I watched this film. Great film and one off my list.- Was this review helpful to you?

Honourable history..
By ginsworth (10 reviews) from Dorset - UK , 06 Sep 2012Fantastic old classic a true must see great - Paul Schofield is breathtaking as Thomas More.
But then all the other actors are too, not just one or two, they all are terrific. See John Hurt in one of his earliest roles.- Was this review helpful to you?

By Burnhamite (379 reviews) from BURNHAM , 24 Jan 2012Thank heavens there are still movies of thsi standard available, although finding them means delving well into the past. Fred Zinnemann and his superb cast deserve the highest praise for providing a wonderful night's viewing- Was this review helpful to you?

A triumph of cinema
By Reesreviews (1 review) , 22 Sep 2011Quite simply one of the greatest films of all times. The acting is amazing and every wanna be actor should take note of Paul Scofield (who unfortunately didn't make that many films) he plays the part of Sir Thomas More so well and the conversations between him and the King (Robert Shaw) are amazing. A young John Hurt an Orson Welles thrown in for good measure. This is a film that should be celebrated as a triumph of cinema. Glorious, I can watch this again and again.- Was this review helpful to you?

More the not so merrier
By a customer , 18 Aug 2011This is an all time classic. Paul Scofield plays his character brilliantly. It gives you a small maybe not so accurate account of the conflict that happened during the reformation in England between the Monarchy and the Catholic Church and how it divided the country and it's people.- Was this review helpful to you?
