    Unbelievable!

The first half hour is boring and slow. After that it gets extremely boring and very slow. Perhaps it should have been called, 'A Film of No Importance.'

    Quite Enjoyable

I enjoyed this film. It wasn't laugh out loud funny but it was nevertheless a gentle, amusing and charming film. Set in the early sixties, it is about a middle aged man, Alfie. By day, he is an endearing bus conductor in Dublin, by night a theatre director, albeit in charge of a small group of amateur actors. I particularly liked Michael Gambon's comic role as a local butcher and thespian - his acting out lines behind a curtain of sausages was certainly a giggle. The cast is very impressive: Albert Finney, Brenda Fricker, Michael Gambon, Tara Fitzgerald, among others and not forgetting the drop dead gorgeous Rufus Sewell.....
