Freddy Krueger gets another remake, but is it set to become a classic?

Another poor remake.By a customer from Stamford , 02 May 2010
[Highly rated reviewer]I actually feel sorry for the guy playing Freddy this time as he put alot of efort in, he does not look as good as the old Freddy but a decent acting effort. The actual film though is very poor compared to the original. Although there is not much you can change with the story it was not interesting at all like the first one which took a little time with development. There is none of that storytellling here, just a rush from one murder to the next. Freddy is in it from about the second scene. There is no build up. The effects are decent yes with some decent gore but other than Freddy the acting is awful, especially the parents of the children Freddy is after. You actually want all the characters dead unlike the original. If you have not seen the original rent it or wait for this on dvd, definately do not go to the cinema like i did.

As remakes go not badBy simo073 (2 reviews) , 05 May 2013Having read the reviews I thought it was going to be poor but I have to say if you like old fashioned horror that makes you jump this is as good as it gets. There is more gore then the oldies but the storyline is fair. Not a bad effort.
Robert Englund.....Please come back!!!By Conqc (9 reviews) , 04 May 2013Thing about the original Freddy Kruger as played by Robert Englund is how much fun Freddy enjoys killing and scaring kids. He loves it, he takes immense glee from it. In the remake this Freddy is a sterotypical killer, moody and dark and thus boring. Jackie Earle does his best to portray the character and make it his own, but he plays it safe and i think he is the wrong size, he is to short to be threatening. Thing is Robert England IS Freddy, i dont think anyone else can play him as great as he is. The film is ok, not enough was done with the dreams and the story is overly complicated to explain who Freddy is and what he done. Overall its worth a rental. Not as good as the original, as we all know, but on its own merits its an ok movie. :-0
Needs more cheeseBy LuluAndNath (24 reviews) , 21 Mar 2013If you're a fan of Freddy from the 80's then this will be a let down. I love Jackie Earle Haley, but he lacks the charm and personality of Robert Englund's Freddy. The effects are good and everything, but it's just missing something. If you never saw the original Elm Streets then you might enjoy this.
