I Have waited a long time to see this movie and was not dissappointed. A strong cast with Sidney and Ruby Dee with strong performance from characters .

The sister character may be just a bit too unbelievable but why shouldn't the young be wishfull wild and free spirited.

Filmed in black and white only added to the moving and emotional scenes reminding you of the time the movie was made during the 60s with people living in crowded accommodation and a time when black people struggled to make a living.

Side characters have to be seen to be believed but they detract nothing from the movie.

All told a beautiful and dignified film nicely paced belonging to an era of days gone by.
