I rented this because I really enjoyed This Is England and Dead Man's Shoes (both awesome films) and although I'm a great fan of Meadows (and Considine's) work I knew this couldn't be quite as amazing. As it turned out my gut feelings were right, it wasn't by any means disappointing simply not as good and although I found many similarities (you can definitely see where much of TIE and DMS comes from) it just wasn't as polished. This Is England definitely packed a harder punch and Dead Man's Shoes had a fantastic stroy that kept you in its vice-like grip. ARFRB was more about the characters than the plot in which nothing much happens. Good performances all round and good entertainment value.
