  • Shockingly good

    [Highly rated reviewer]

Rented this not really knowing what to expect - but anticipating mildly watchable with emabarrassing 80s overtones.

In actual fact it turned out to be a keenly observed slice of office politics and powerplay - spiced with an occasional low-key murder - and far closer to the bone than the Office could ever be.

Having worked closely with characters like these, I found myself inwardly cheering when each got his well-deserved comeuppance.

80s overtones aside - this is just as true to life in today's corporate world as it was when it was made.

    A gem.

An unexpected delight, and certainly worth watching. It is a well produced film, and Michael Caine seems to be having a good time playing the role.

This was cheaply put together, with some bad acting in places, but what a good little film and Caine is his masterful self in it whe he is allowed to be, sometimes it is really nice to see the little guy win even if he is a stone cold killer

Unexpectedly, I really enjoyed this film. Michael Caine is superb, the darkness to his character comes out so quickly that it's a surprise but you soon get used to it. I found myself almost giggling with trying to work out who he was going to 'off' next.

I won't say any more, in case I spoil it for anyone. It's a short film, only 1 hour and 20 minutes, and you really won't regret renting it.

  • One Up For The Downtrodden

I like Michael Caine and I liked this. I have a funny feeling that I shouldn't have done, and if he had disposed of the girl on the railway platform he would have lost me. The Director though was playing games with us and the Columbo-like detective was getting closer. I have a feeling that if Peter Falk had been the detective it would have all ended in tears for Michael.
