A Shot At Glory

Director Michael Corrente
Genres Drama
Run time 110 mins Certificate 15

16th September 2004

I first saw this film back in February of this year whilst on holiday in the Dominican Republic. It was broadcast on one of the American channels. Well not all of it I tuned in for the last ten minutes or so and I just had to get it out to see the whole film and get the whole story.

Robert Duval produced and takes the lead role as the very grouchy Gordon McCloud, manager of a very small division two football team in Scotland. He hasn't spoken to his daughter Kate (played by the lovely Kirsty Mitchell) in years since she married Jackie McQuillan (played by Ally McCoist). McCloud signs McQuillan hoping for a change of luck in getting promotion and having a good giant killing run in the cup. Michael Keaton has a cameo role as Pete Cameron the owner of this small club who considers moving them over to Dublin.

Although the film does contain a lot of bad language it is worth a view! It is very funny in parts, the scene is set when McQuillan drives through the town, watch for the little old lady! Will David overcome Goliath? well you will have to watch the film. I have seen a lot worse two hour films and this is worth a view. If you are a football fan or ever followed McCoist when he played then you are in for a treat.
