Disappointing - but undiscerning kids might like it

Having first seen Martin Short in 3 Amigos and Innerspace, I thought he'd make a great lead in a kid's film. And with Kathleen Turner in support as the baddie, it all looked very promising.
Unfortunately the plot is very pedestrian, and though the cast try hard, the magic isn't really there. Not a terrible film, but wouldn't be my first choice to entertain the family either.
