A bit dated but extremely touching and unusual. The father's sudden accidental blindness affects the small family of himself, his wife and his son.He being a successful lawyer and in reality unable to accept the blindness, rules the lives of his nearest and dearest.A wondereful story and superbly acted.
The question is 'Who suffers most ?'
I rented this film being interested in Alan Bates but it showed just how good an actor Lawrence Olivier was. I never was much of a fan of Lawrence but this performance for me was the best I have seen from an elderly actor. It is an obscure film with some pretentious moments but overall the acting perfomances make it intriguing enough to see it out. It will not suit all tastes especially those who want some action but it will suit those who like the contemplation of life.
