The feverish madness of the tour was captured on film in director Lasse Hallstrom's ABBA - The Movie, which remains as one of precious few opportunities to experience ABBA live onstage. In the film, we follow radio disc jockey Ashley Wallace as he tries to hunt down the group for an exclusive, in-depth interview.

This follows the (mis)fortunes of an Australian radio presenter tasked by his station manager to land 'the' interview to end all interviews during Abba's antipodean tour in 1977 and as well of a bit of a giddy and dated story and some questionable fashion (fans - not the band) this holds up really well the music sounding fresh as it was made yesterday.
We saw this in Aug 2008 on the big screen at the cinema, released for one nightl only due to the popularity of the new Mamma Mia movie. And do you know what we really enjoyed it. As much as anything this day and age it offers a real priviledged view of Lasse Hallstroms early work, before taking the helm and directing such heavyweight movies as The Ciderhouse Rules, the superb Chocolat and Casanova etc etc. All in all, especially for Abba maniacs everywhere, a definate must watch.
Wish they had just showed Abba in concert. Flick through the rest and watch the live performances.
