Italian film-maker Pier Paolo Pasolini's scathing satire Theorem is bowdlerised for Gerard Stembridge's droll Irish comedy. Stuart Townsend stars as the charming layabout (echoing Terence Stamp's role in the earlier film) who bewitches every member of an outwardly respectable family. Kate Hudson (Oscar-nominated for Almost Famous), Frances O'Connor, Charlotte Bradley and Alan Maher do well as the siblings who succumb to his charms. Writer/director Stembridge tones down the amorality of this sly social sitcom with some sparkling dialogue, and is greatly aided in the glossy telling of his tale by the willing cast and Bruno de Keyzer's attractive Dublin-based photography.

Often lively romantic comedy that skates over the central matter of betrayal in favour of the pleasures to be gained from seeing events from various perspectives.

    About Adam

About Adam was not I'd expected of a film. Instead of the usual one storyline, there are many, don't know how many exactly, as I did not watch the entire film. In some ways it is similar to The Rules of Attraction, telling the story for many peoples perspective. Kate Hudson has a good singing voice, which is a first for me. There is not much else I can say as the plot of the film didn't stnad out to me.

    Yawn!

Utter tripe! Couldn't even stand to watch this to the end. Paint drying would be more entertaining. Kate Hudson - you disappointed me this time after loving How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Raising Helen.

    Don't bother with this one.

    Weird

Had potential to be a really good film but Kate Hudson's attempt at an Irish accent was awful (why not cast an Irish actress?!) and is one of those unsatisfying films which give no closure!

    Watchable but that's it.

    Not worth even one star

A profoundly awful movie. No story to speak of, a hacked out script devoid of any humour or charm, and some truly awful performances.

It's no surprise that the director hasn't been let near a camera since.

    Good Film

Not what I expected when my wife put this film on, but the film was very good, the plots and sub plots were at times a little silly.

But the humour and dialogue made up for it.

    Great stuff

I loved this film. Great story line and lovely irish accent! One of those films when you start watching you have no idea whats it going to be about, but turns out to be a little far fetched but entertaining

    About Adam

Strange 'comedy', with a twist, I found the story a little annoying, while the characters narrate their way through. Filmed from the perspective of each member of an Irish family in relation to ADAM, a man they meet through one of its members, a sister/daughter who is always in love. It takes some time to get going.... but it does get going, with a cast of Kate Hudson, Stuart Townsend, Frances O'Connor, Charlotte Bradley, Rosaleen Linehan, Tommy Tiernan taking relatively strong roles, in a rather lame film, that is just OK.
