While his wife's sorrow spirals further downward, he finds the chance for redemption in the pursuit of a killer whose diverse and seemingly random victims include an elderly couple, a waitress, and a drug addict. As the victims multiply, Caleb's problems at home and compulsions at work merge into one terrifying and indistinguishable whole.

John Flynn is an under-rated and largely unsung action director (checkout The Outfit and Best Seller for proof) and here he brings his usual no-frills professionalism to a familiar but quietly satisfying serial-killer thriller. Stephen Baldwin (nicely understated for once) is the cop recovering from the accidental death of his son who becomes obsessed with a killer who is leaving a trail of bodies behind him as he searches for his own perfect home. You?ll probably guess the identity of killer long before Baldwin does but Flynn sustains a believable air of suspense throughout. There?s also sympathetic support from old stagers Tyne Daley and Allen Garfield.
The acting is wooden; the story line is old; and ask yourself how eye witnesses manage to produce a detailed e-fit from a glimpse of somebody swaddled in a hood and scarf; ask yourself why the plot would have such an unrealistic element. I bet you'll guess the answer long before the denouement. If you want to see an ordinary movie with no surprises, get this one.
I had to watch to the end. Pretty good, never knew Alec Balwin had a brother who acted?! Well, well, good plot, a bit predictable and tedious in places but never suspected who-dunnit.......Sad and quite realistic........
