    Tree's company.

Another Korean horror movie hits the shelves and it's fair to say that this particular Eastern delight shares more in common with ‘A Tale Of Two Sisters’ then with ‘The Grudge’.

Coming on more like a human drama with horror elements thrown in, ‘Acacia’ brings with it some fine performances and a well structured story which may be too laboured in its approach for some.

‘Acacia’ certainly takes its time and the jump factor is incredibly low, it just isn't that kind of movie. It did get under my skin however, and the final act was for me the icing on the blood stained knife.

Korean horror always comes across as the smarter, more intelligent cousin of Hollywood horror and ‘Acacia’, while not as good as its sibling, is another worthy addition to the Eastern cinema rollercoaster. Slow, thoughtful and creepy to boot.

The stupidest film I think I've ever seen

Korean films usaully tend to be fairly bad but this one takes the biscuit. Although I didn't find films such as Ju-on (The Grudge) scary, they tend to be very amusing and briefly entertaining because of this. Acacia isn't even funny, it's very very slow and the plot seems to disappear half way through the movie as if they'd completely run out of ideas. The jumpy bits aren't jumpy, there are random parts of the film which strangely have no relevence to the rest of the movie, and the ending is probably the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I defy you not to laugh, although it's hard to smile when you've just wated 101 minutes on this steaming turd.

    Not many laughs!

    Spooky and very depressing.

This film should not be watched just before bedtime.

    Cure for insomnia

I disagree with the previous reviewer - this film SHOULD be watched just before bedtime: it's a sure-fire cure for insomnia. Very tame, very boring with a plot-line that demands you suspend... well, just about everything cerebral. Avoid.

    Creeeepy

I consider myself to be impervious to horror flix. Normally I see the end result before the credits have finished. As for the ususal run of the mill SFX... I can never buy into them. So.... Yes, Acacia is slow, but there is nothing unbeleivable in it. I defy anyone not to get caught up in the mind of the child. This film, as slow as it is, grips. And for the second time (Old Boy), I never saw the end comming. A worthwhile movie.

Interesting, but very slow and unimpressive

Acacia is an interesting film, if very unimpressive on the whole. It is slow starting (nothing really happens in the first 30-minutes of the film!), and the film throughout has a very slow pace to it. The film does get better and more interesting as it progresses though (after the 45-minute to 1-hour mark), and every now and then there is a spark of something good. Acacia also has an interesting ending, with more happening in the last 15-minutes than in the whole of the rest of the film. But the basic acting, basic story, and characters the viewer has little reason to care for really lets the film down in the end. The film is very similar to A Tale of Two Sisters (in pacing and other aspects), and I would recommend you watch that rather than Acacia!

    Not what I expected

I thought this movie was going to be a gripping horror, but was disappointed. Couple of good twists but not a great film.

    Another Korean horror?!!

Another Korean movie trying to cash in on the horror subject. Film is ok but not all that the performance by the little kid is worth watching though - he does leave his mark. Worth watching just to tick off your list - don't rush take your time though.

A bit slow to begin with but worth a watch, not one of the best!!!!!!!!!!

    Very wooden

Having watched a lot of Far Eastern Horror, I was expecting something different.

Per usual, cursed/haunted locale, spooky kids, flashbacks - almost formula horror, piy as the look & production of the film is very high.
