    ...into the dire film category

A kid doesn't get into college, so he decides to open up his own and ends up accepting all types of no-hopers. Although this film is some-what original in its storyline, its fails babdly when it comes to laughs and the acting. This is something that you might see on a weekday evening on MTV. Not good

    Accepted....A+ movie!

A really enjoyable film to watch and not just for teenagers. It sends the message home that we are all sheep, following a set of rules that society sets out for us on how we should our lives. The movie celebrates individuality and looks at what education would be like if people were urged to get in touch with their passions and creativity. Highly recommended!

    Total genius

I absolutely loved this film and have watched it as many as 10 times now cos' I enjoyed it so much. Brilliant message, exposing the indoctrination of our youth and the importance of individuality. Very sharp, witty writing and gripping storyline. You like all the characters and there's so many brilliant moments you'll miss them when it's over.

    dissapointing

I pretty much just rented this coz Jonah Hill was in it, and he's as good as ever (he certainly lost a fair bit of weight between this and knocked up mind).

The idea's pretty good but this has more in common with the likes of 'School of Rock' as opposed to 'Animal House' or 'American Pie'. Too family friendly to be a college movie yet too 'college' to be a family movie. I felt myself wishing for a bit of gross out humour and T & A just to spice it up a bit.

Kinda felt like someone had cut out all the fart gags to make it available to a younger (but, most likely, uninterested) audience. After all, How many 12 year olds wanna see films about college? regardless of how nice the message may be.

Still, worth a rent i suppose.

    Customer Review

This sounded alright, potentially great if well made. The reviews said it was terrible and it was quite obscure so I didn't notice it when it got released on DVD.

Having finally seen it I have to say that it's great. It is middle of the road, and I can see how a lot of people don't like it, but it works for me. In the space of about three months I have seen it three times, which is a lot for me as I usually wait about a year before watching something again.

Justin Long is funny and likeable, although it's probably fair to say that he's not destined to be one of the great titans of comedy. If you get his style of humour then you should find the film to be very amusing, with seven or eight laugh out loud moments. Hopefully he will get more starring roles as he is good.

The rival jocks are a particularly non-threatening presence. Justin gets the girl from the jock far too easily. Maybe the makers were trying to skip some cliches of the sub-genre, but still, the cliche is there so they might as well have played it out in full.

The DVD has no extras which is odd for a comedy as they usually have ten or so minutes of good deleted scenes and alternative dialogue. Sometimes the deleted material is better than what gets into the film so I do feel annoyed that there isn't any on this DVD.

On a non-relevant side note it's interesting how "U-Mass" by The Pixies jumps out of the film soundtrack in a way none of the other songs do. Either it's just really well placed, or it's further proof that they are one of the greatest bands of all time.

    I enjoyed it!

As with most of these teen comedies, this film is a bit silly and highly improbable, but I liked it. The main characters were likeable, and the time went quite quickly whilst I was watching it. Not the worst 90mins I've spent watching a film. I guess it depends what you expect from a film like this. It was pretty much as expected.

    Another American College Movie

If you like American teen comedy you will love this.

This film actually has a good storyline, based on kids who don't get into the college they want (or any college for that matter) some students decide to take matters into their own hands and set up a fake college to impress Mum & Dad.

You can guess the rest, someone tells the authorities, Mum & Dad find out it's a fake college etc and it gets shut down or does it????

Not my cup of tea but teenagers will love it...
