    Doctor Dolittle meets The Crying Game in this smash-hit comedy that made Jim Carrey an overnight sensation. The rubber-faced star plays a bumbling, Hawaiian-shirted detective hired to find the kidnapped dolphin mascot of the Miami Dolphins football team in this fast and furious farce. Your reaction to the film will largely depend on whether you find Carrey's distinctive style of extremely physical comedy — often compared to that of Jerry Lewis — stupidly hilarious or downright annoying. Likely to appeal mainly to the Wayne's World brigade, Ace Ventura is directed with anarchic energy and quirky imagination by Tom Shadyac, who also brought his magic touch to Eddie Murphy's The Nutty Professor and reteamed with Carrey for the comedy Liar Liar. Carrey's long-suffering co-stars Courteney Cox (from Friends) and Sean Young (in surely one of her most bizarre screen roles) had the good sense not to reappear in the lamentably unfunny sequel When Nature Calls.

    Jim Carrey at his best.

    This film is the best, it is entertainment for everyone young and old.

    One of my favourites, I laughed so much I nearly cried, and my 9 year old loves it too.

    VERY FUNNY!

    Great movie and one of Jim Carrey's finest roles to date. Ace Ventura{ Carrey} is a pet detective who must recover a kidnapped dolphin named Snowflake and pin the culprit. he joins forces with Melissa Robinson{ Friend's Courtney Cox} to rescue Dan Marino the superbowl player. he must dodge secretary Lios Einhorn and is bad mouthed by Roger Predactor{character in the flick}

    MUST SEE ENTERTAINMENT FROM START TO FINISH! I LOVE THE UNDERCOVER AGENT OPENING SCENE!

    Classic Jim Carey

    This is a great movie. The jokes although expected and a bit over the top are still funny (especially the Star Trek impersonations) and had me in stitches.

    Ace is a captivating character, well played by Carey, that you can't stop watching for a moment.

    The humour is a little bit dated now (or am I a little bit older?) but a great film nontheless and definately worth watching.

    Great afternoon family fun.

    Side Splitting Laughs

    I really liked this one as it started off with laughs from the very start.

    He does seem to get on everyones nerves, but the end result is surprising.

    The way he does things is really funny to say the least. I think they got the right guy to play the main character in the movie. Fantastic to watch from start to finish

    bonza film

    fantastic film that launched Jim Carrey into stardom. His lunacy makes this film from the opening scene driving down the road - head out the window to jumping in an empty pool and doing the 'star trek' thing. And it has a young tidy bird in too!

    A true classic comedy.
